Interview with Belle in Taipei

We’ve been requesting face-to-face interviews to our users when we visit different countries. The purpose of these interviews is to understand what users in the other part of the world are expecting from Cacoo and receive feedback about our future plans.

Belle in Taipei 01

Our last interviewee at an university in Taiwan is Belle. She volunteered as an MC at the CacooUp in Taipei and her wonderful personality and skills led the CacooUp in Taipei to the success.

She is an English Bachelor of Business Administration student and also helping younger students as a teaching assistant.

She was having a hard time drawing on her desktop drawing applications and her friend recommended her Cacoo. Now she is happy as she can output the images that she has in her mind without struggling with difficult applications.

She believes visual explanation is easier for both speaker and listener to understand so she draws many diagrams. When drawing many easy diagrams like she does, complicated functionalities are not necessary. She became an expert of Cacoo in one night and since then she’s been using it all the time.

She has been recommending Cacoo to her friends at school because students are always busy and they can draw nice diagrams fast and easily on Cacoo.

Xie xie, Belle.

Interview with Lily in Taipei

We’ve been requesting face-to-face interviews to our users when we visit different countries. The purpose of these interviews is to understand what users in the other part of the world are expecting from Cacoo and receive feedback about our future plans.

Lily in Taipei 01

The next interviewee in Taiwan is Lily. She’s an university student, majoring Industrial Engineering. She is interested in analyzing and designing cooperative machines for humans.

Her friend at school recommended Cacoo and she has been using it for drawing network charts and presentation materials.
In the last semester, her team was asked to renew the school’s website to be optimized for the mobiles. She used Cacoo for designing the site so that students can find the school’s information easily and smoothly on their mobile devices.

She recommends Cacoo because it’s easy to make a sample using plenty of ready-to-use items and she just need to put items in the certain space and move them around.

Xie xie, Lily.

Interview with Wendy in Taipei

We’ve been requesting face-to-face interviews to our users when we visit different countries. The purpose of these interviews is to understand what users in the other part of the world are expecting from Cacoo and receive feedback about our future plans.

Wendy in Taipei 01

The secound user from Taiwan is Wendy. She is majoring Applied Linguistics at university and she can speak Japanese and English as well as her native language, Chinese. She helped us to communicate with other students and teachers while we visited her school.

Her club members recommended Cacoo to her. According to her, she’s not good at technologies so she liked the simplicity of Cacoo. She makes organization charts and presentation materials and she said “I can do what I want to do and what I want to present in a very short time”.

She recommends Cacoo as it is user friendly. For her simple process is more important than comlicated process for great features.

Interview with Jeff in Taipei

We’ve been requesting face-to-face interviews to our users when we visit different countries. The purpose of these interviews is to understand what users in the other part of the world are expecting from Cacoo and receive feedback about our future plans.

Jeff in Taipei 01

The first interviewee from Taiwan is Jeff. He is an university student and majoring Social Science and Business Administration.

He has volunteered as a speaker at the CacooUp Taipei. He created a presentation material on Cacoo and used another application called Prezi to make the presentation more dynamic by zooming and leading the audiences’ focus.

Jeff in Taipei 02

He found Cacoo while he was looking for a tool to draw a diagram for his previous presentation. He needed something he can make diagrams quickly and neatly. Also as he was going to do the presentation with his friend, he needed a tool that can be shared with others easily.

During the search on the Internet, he found Cacoo and he liked it. According to him, since he’s not good at drawing (though his presentation looks great), he told us that Cacoo’s stencils are very useful to draw a diagram as he play a jigsaw puzzle.

He showed us how the use of Cacoo can be expanded by using with other applications. If you have any recommended application that works with Cacoo nicely, please let us hear

Cacoo at geekfest

On March 31st and April 1st, I have attended an event that took place in Bandung, Indonesia, called geekfest.

Stimulated by SXSW, the large annual conference in Texas, geekfest was held for the first time in Indonesia. Many geeks from different profesiencies joined and collaborated at this event.

About geekfest

Many live events are held on the main stage. In the booth area, tech related people, like I was showing Cacoo, music groups, movie communities had own own booths and shown our ideas.
The place was filled with games, illustrations, live T-shirts designs and other performances done by many geeks. There were a lot of cosplayers, too!

Some photos I took at the event:

Geekfest 01Geekfest 02Geekfest 03Geekfest 04Geekfest 05Geekfest 06Geekfest 07Geekfest 08Geekfest 09

I just heard that Myojo Waraku, the festival of technology and creativity, which was stimulated by SXSW as well, will take place in Fukuoka, Japan this year again after the success in the last year’s event, too. I’m already excited about it!

I want to show my appreciation to PETSHOPBOX STUDIO staff (they are the ones designed the event characters.). They helped me to attend the event and introduced to many people.
Sissy, Kuswanto, Nia, Reina, and everyone at PETSHOPBOX STUDIO, thank you!

I’m pretty sure I’ll be visiting Indonesia soon.  Looking forward to seeing you again soon in Indonesia!

Terima kasih!

謝謝!! Startup Weekend Taipei!!

Startup Weekend Taipei 01

As mentioned on the previous post, Cacoo supported Startup Weekend Taipei which was held in this weekend (March 30 – April 1, 2012) and I joined this event as a technical mentor to support teams to solve their technical issues.

Startup Weekends are held in all over the world as explained on their web site:
“ Startup Weekends are 54-hour events where developers, designers, marketers, product managers and startup enthusiasts come together to share ideas, form teams, build products, and launch startups! ”

Obviously, 54 hours is usually not so enough to create something cool but this works well with all of the participants’ huge passion or enthusiasm.

Startup Weekends have become well known in Japan as they were held not only in Tokyo but in Fukuoka and Kyoto last year.
( Nulab has branches in every cities above :-) )

About 60 peoples came to the office of Google Taipei located at 77th (!) floor on Taipei 101 to participate in this event and the place was filled with energy, energy and energy.

Startup Weekend Taipei 02

When I arrived there on the second day of the event, 11 teams had already been working hard on their projects.
Sometimes, he or she stood on the stage and asked some questions to other teams or staffs to validate their ideas.

Fortunately, I was given a chance to show a demo of Cacoo for Google+ Hangouts that we’ve just announced last week.

Startup Weekend Taipei 03

On that demo, while talking on Google+ Hangouts, 3 Cacoo team members worked on one diagram from 3 different countries, from Japan, Indonesia and Taiwan!!
I believe this showed the possibility for people in another places to collaborate with each other as if they were in a same room.
After this event is over, when the teams need to discuss about their project and it is difficult to meet together, I hope them to try Cacoo for Google+ Hangouts!

Also, I met with Cacoo users those who joined the Cacooup Taipei held at early this month. I was very happy to see them!

I was really moved by the sincere efforts made by all the participants through their “54-hour” working.

For example, one team discussed with a mentor to refine their ideas again and again as far as time permits and other team put sample soaps, which is one of their product, with their handmade message at sink units around the office to inform their concepts.
I’m pretty sure that there were lots of this kind of trials and errors during this event.

I thought that thinking out again and again and taking action is essential to create something great that moves everyone’s heart.
We all should remember this every time when we think about our services.

Same as all teams of this event, we’d like to make our own services, Cacoo (and all other services we have) being used by more and more people around the world and so we’ll keep on thinking out our services to improve and grow them, with huge passion like the participants showed in this event.

謝謝!! Startup Weekend Taipei!!

CacooUp Taipei 2012 is a Success!

On March 7, we held a CacooUp in Taipei, and the event was very successful. It was our first CacooUp in Taipei, and almost 100 users attended the event – much more than expected. Over 30 people who pre-registered for the event showed up that night.

We held the event at a stylish cafe called Hiiir Space 好時光迴廊.
Many IT related events, like the Evernote event, has been held here. Hiiir Space has great food, too.

Two professional receptionists, Sandra and Colleen. 謝謝!!

Belle, a Taiwanese bilingual Cacoo user, MC’d the CacooUp.

The event started by introducing Cacoo to the audience. We talked about Cacoo’s current status and our future product plans.

Cacoo’s designer, Ms. Takada, explained about the Cacoo Store and demonstrated how to apply items to the Store.

Ms. Inoue, the customer support rep, showed some examples of how Cacoo is used.

A Cacoo user, Jeff, showed how he creates his presentation materials using Cacoo and Prezi.

With James, one of the organizers of Startup Weekend Taipei, we give away the tickets to Startup Weekend Taipei since Cacoo is one of the sponsors for the event.

We took a picture of the group at the end. It was a bit rainy outside but we were happy to see many of users show up anyway. We had a great time talking to our guests and we hope we can hold another event in Taipei!

Thank you, Belle, Sandra, Colleen and Jeff, for your help. We are sure that we couldn’t have made the event this successful without you. We also appreciate the users who attended the event!
